Visiting our partners (2) - Ciala Resort and St Jairus Hospital

In November, I paid courtesy calls to the Girls on the Move partner organisations, the employers who are hosting our interns. In the second of my series of blog posts, I visit Ciala Resort and St Jairus Hospital.

The calls were surprise visits. None of the partners or interns had received advance notice and I'm glad to report that they were nicely surprised.

My companion for the journey was Recky Kyalo, our partner coordinator. Recky came to introduce me to the employers as this was the first time I had met them since the programme launch.

Ciala Resort is amongst the best hotels in Kisumu and is the perfect venue for weddings, conferences and events. It currently hosts 5 of our interns.

The hotel overlooks beautiful hills giving clients the serenity, peace, and comfort they need. And their modern rooms, landscaping, and well-manicured gardens enhance the guest experience.

There we met with the human resource manager, Ms Brenda Awuor, who warmly welcomed us and commented on the interns' work commitment, that they are flexible and enthusiastic about working in different departments.

St. Jairus Hospital is one of Kisumu's best private health facilities offering medical care services. It hosts one of our interns.

There we met with the Administrator, Ms Everlyne Alai. Ms Alai talked highly about the Intern and the excellent job she is doing. She added that the intern’s excellent work made them understand the importance of supply chain and motivated them to consider creating a new supply chain department within their organization…in other words, the program is helping elevate the status and value of a good supply chain!
