In November, I paid courtesy calls to the Girls on the Move partner organisations, the employers who are hosting our interns. In the last of my series of blog posts, I visit Aga Khan Hospital and Kajicon Enterprises.
The calls were surprise visits. None of the partners or interns had received advance notice and I'm glad to report that they were nicely surprised.
My companion for the journey was Recky Kyalo, our partner coordinator. Recky came to introduce me to the employers as this was the first time I had met them since the programme launch.
Thank you to all those who welcomed us and took time out of their busy schedules to meet with us.
Established in 1952, the Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu, is a 61-bed acute care facility offering quality health care. The Hospital provides general medical services, specialist clinics, and high-tech diagnostic services and has a well-equipped 24-hour Emergency Department.
It is part of the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) international referral system, with links to the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi and Karachi, respectively.
At the Hospital we met with the Human Resource Office, who, despite being busy, welcomed us and pledged to continue supporting the GOTM program. Unfortunately, the only intern placed with them was on a break, so we did not get to meet her.

The Human Resource Manager was on leave, but we were lucky to meet the Director himself, Mr Connel Osano. He informed us that their intern was the best and should be an example to others. Furthermore, the intern has done excellent work and is now in charge of the Micro-finance Department in the absence of the manager who is on leave.
